There are many options available for the aging. It is the goal of DCMI to help all clients assess the needs of their elderly relatives. The following options are descriptions of just a few of the types of referrals that can be offered if your corporation is interested in partnering with DCMI to assist your employees with the elder care needs of their aging loved ones.


Adult Day Care Center
Adult day care centers are developed to house and offer stimulating and fun activities to those adults who are no longer able to care for themselves during the day. Adult day care can also provide respite for the primary caregiver. Transportation may be available, and meals are usually included. Costs vary, and some provide a sliding fee schedule.


Hospice Programs
Hospice services can provide care for the terminally ill patient. Hospice programs can educate families to care for patients who still live at home. Services are normally covered by Medicare and can include care at home, equipment, supplies, and pain control.


Home Health Care
Home health care can be provided by skilled home health care professionals or home health aides depending on the needs of the individual. Home health care is provided in the patients own home and can include nursing care, therapy, self care assistance, light housekeeping, and more. Medicare, private insurance, and Medicaid pay for most of these services.


Nursing Homes
Aging relatives may be placed in a nursing facility when they are no longer able to care for themselves. If possible, the potential resident and a relative should visit several facilities to consider the quality of care provided.


Retirement Communities
There may be several levels of living arrangements at retirement residences. Independent Living for persons able to care for themselves completely. Assisted Living which provides assistance for persons needing daily living assistance. Health Care facilities are provided in some communities for residents needing long term care.
